FORMER Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has approved the composition of his Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, naming Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chairman and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as deputy chairman.
Senator Austin Akobundu was appointed director-general and campaign manager, with responsibility for coordinating the campaign’s operations and translating its strategy into action.
The appointments were announced on Thursday by Director of Strategic Communications of the campaign and Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku, Mr Phrank Shaibu.
The campaign structure comprises six deputy directors-general overseeing operational directorates, supported by 30 directors with specific portfolios.

Veteran Journalist and Publisher, Chief Dele Momodu, will serve as deputy director-general of the Media and Communications Directorate, while former Kogi West Senator, Senator Dino Melaye, will head Contact and Mobilisation.
The Policy Team will be chaired by economist and banker, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, with Professor Mohammed Sagagi as deputy chairman. Other members include former Central Bank of Nigeria deputy governor, Prof Kingsley Moghalu, Professor Mustapha Akinkunmi and Senator Abdul Ningi. Moghalu has, however, exited the team, saying he was not consulted and was no longer partisan.
Former Edo State Governor and pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun, will chair the Campaign Advisory Board.
The campaign’s senior advisers include former governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Abdulfatah Ahmed and Emeka Ihedioha, alongside Adamu Maina Waziri and several former lawmakers.
Shaibu said the structure was designed around the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, particularly rising food and transport costs, shrinking incomes, unemployment, insecurity and declining purchasing power.

He said the campaign would focus on clearly defined responsibilities and measurable results rather than a large structure built around political appointments.
The campaign has listed former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as Atiku’s running mate, while Senator David Mark remains the ADC national chairman.
The campaign council will now coordinate Atiku’s nationwide mobilisation and other activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
