SOFTBANK-BACKED fintech company, OPay, has commenced trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) after pricing its initial public offering at $19 per American depositary share, raising approximately $304m from the sale of 16 million shares.
The listing, which began on Friday under the ticker symbol OPAY, values the Nigerian-focused digital financial services company at approximately $4 billion.
The offer price was at the lower end of the $19 to $21 range initially proposed to investors, reflecting the final pricing of the company’s long-awaited entry into the US capital market.
OPay disclosed the pricing in a statement announcing the completion of the IPO process, adding that the shares were offered directly by the company.
Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Standard Bank and China International Capital Corporation acted as joint book-running managers for the transaction.

The offering also includes an option for underwriters to purchase an additional 2.4 million American depositary shares within 30 days to cover possible excess demand. If fully exercised, the additional allocation would raise the total offering to 18.4 million shares.
OPay said the transaction was expected to close on November 2, subject to the fulfilment of customary closing conditions.
The listing expands the company’s shareholder base beyond its existing investors, among whom SoftBank entities held a 6.6 percent stake before the IPO, according to its registration filing.
OPay’s US listing plans became public in May 2026, when reports emerged that the company was targeting a valuation of about $4 billion. Its formal regulatory process advanced on October 9, when it filed a Form F-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
