Tall Lizzy, an adult content creator, has opened up about the personal struggles that preceded her decision to enter the adult entertainment industry, saying she now regrets some of the choices she made.
In a viral video, Tall Lizzy said financial difficulties, low self-esteem and her desire to help her mother contributed to the path she eventually took.
‘I was scared to say no’
According to her, she struggled with low self-esteem and found it difficult to refuse people’s requests.
She said she and a friend would sometimes search the streets for discarded condoms as a way of getting by and helping her mother, even though her mother did not openly complain about their financial situation.
Tall Lizzy also disclosed that she dropped out of secondary school after her family struggled to raise about ₦2,300 needed for her school fees.
She said the situation became so overwhelming that she contemplated suicide.
How she entered the industry
Tall Lizzy said she later encountered someone online who claimed to be able to introduce her to the adult content industry.
She explained that she initially viewed it as a temporary way to make money, intending to work for only a few weeks, save enough money and eventually delete the content.
However, she said things did not go according to her original plan.
According to her, she would not have joined the industry if she had known the reality of its financial side.
“There’s no money in the industry. If I have known the truth about the monetary aspect, I would not have joined.”
She said her intention was never to remain in the industry for a long period.
‘The stigma is very strong’
Tall Lizzy also spoke about the difficulties people can face after leaving the adult entertainment industry.
She said some former performers struggle with depression and the stigma associated with their past.
According to her, people who watch adult content may assume that those involved are simply enjoying themselves and earning money, but she said the reality can be more complicated.
“The stigma is very very strong because people watching us might feel like, oh we are enjoying ourselves and getting paid for it. But it is deeper than what people are thinking.”
She said her past decisions continue to affect her, but she now wants to use her experience as a motivation to make better choices.
“I have regrets but my regret is one of the things that is foiling me to want to do better.”
Tall Lizzy said she decided to share her story in the hope that young people could learn from her experience and make different choices when faced with financial or personal difficulties.
