Security agencies have rescued eight persons abducted in the Millennium City and Maraban Rido areas of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The victims were rescued between October 31 and November 2, 2026, during coordinated operations involving the Office of the National Security Adviser, Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force, the military and the Kaduna State Government.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press conference at the DSS Command headquarters in Kaduna.

Rabiu said the operations were part of sustained efforts to identify and dismantle criminal networks responsible for repeated kidnapping incidents in Millennium City and neighbouring communities.

He noted that the area had experienced recurring abductions, raising concerns among residents and other stakeholders over their safety.

The rescued victims were identified as Jamila Muhammad, 27, wife of Abdulkadir Bello; Talatu Yakubu, 40; Yunana Bawa, 30; Calista Bishop, 27; Chidinma Onuwere, 36; Eucharia Obi, 41; Godiya Victor, 50; and an eight-year-old girl, Miracle Alex.

The latest rescue operation came barely weeks after security agencies freed Ahmad Zakka and members of his family from captivity on October 15, 2026.

The police commissioner described the successive rescue operations as evidence of the commitment of security agencies to securing the release of abducted persons and bringing those responsible to justice.

He commended the Office of the National Security Adviser for its coordination, the police for their operational support, the DSS for its intelligence efforts and the military for its involvement.

Rabiu also praised the Kaduna State Government, led by Governor Uba Sani, for its cooperation and continued support in tackling kidnapping and banditry across the state.

He said the operations reflected President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening national security and protecting lives and property through improved collaboration among security institutions.

The commissioner, however, identified the difficult terrain in some parts of Kaduna State as one of the challenges exploited by criminal groups.

He disclosed that security agencies had increased their operational capacity through the deployment of additional personnel and equipment, including 30 patrol vans and eight armoured personnel carriers.

According to him, the additional resources are expected to improve security coverage and restrict the activities of criminal elements.

Rabiu urged residents to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information about the identities, movements and activities of suspected kidnappers, bandits and other criminal groups.

He assured the public that information supplied would be treated confidentially and acted upon appropriately.

The commissioner also called on traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen community participation in the fight against insecurity.

He appealed to media organisations to maintain responsible and professional reporting, particularly by avoiding the spread of unverified information capable of undermining security operations or causing unnecessary panic.

Rabiu reaffirmed the commitment of the DSS, ONSA, police, military and Kaduna State Government to sustaining operations aimed at restoring lasting peace across the state.
