SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc has appointed Michael Uchenna Chukwu as an Independent Non-Executive Director and appointed TAC Professional Services as its new external auditor.
The insurer announced the changes in separate notices to the Nigerian Exchange Limited and shareholders dated September 21, 2026.
Chukwu joins the board with more than 40 years of experience spanning banking, taxation, investment management and corporate governance.
He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Assetswise Capital Ltd, a private equity firm where he has led investments since 2007.
He previously served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Spring Bank Plc from 2005 to 2007 and was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Express Bank between 2001 and 2005.
His career also includes senior management roles at ACB International Bank, First Atlantic Bank, United Bank for Africa, FCMB and Citizens International Bank.

Chukwu served as Executive Chairman of the Ebonyi State Internal Revenue Board from 2019 to 2020.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Management of Nigeria and Institute of Directors Nigeria.
SUNU replaces auditor after eight years
The insurer has appointed TAC Professional Services to replace SIAO Partners, which completed its eight-year tenure as external auditor after auditing SUNU Assurances’ 2025 financial year.
The change follows the maximum eight-year tenure prescribed by the National Insurance Commission’s Corporate Governance Guidelines 2021.
Shareholders ratified TAC’s appointment at the company’s Annual General Meeting on August 21, 2026.
TAC Professional Services, established in 1999, provides audit and assurance, tax advisory, financial and business advisory, forensic investigation and accounting services.

Its client base spans insurance, financial services, oil and gas, manufacturing, telecommunications and real estate.
The firm is a member of Integra International, a global network of independent accounting and consulting firms.
SUNU Assurances said TAC and its partners are registered with relevant professional and regulatory bodies, including the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Securities and Exchange Commission, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
The changes strengthen the insurer’s board composition while beginning a new external audit cycle following the completion of SIAO Partners’ maximum tenure.
